West Hills Symphonic Band & Woodwind Quintet

The mission of the West Hills Symphonic Band is to offer musicians of varying ages and skill levels a challenging means of developing and expressing their musical skills, to inspire a love for music in band and audience members alike, and to provide quality concerts for local communities that enlighten, uplift, and educate audiences through the medium of the rich heritage and ongoing, vital role of the American community band.
North Pittsburgh Symphonic Band
Years Active: 2009 – 2015
The North Suburban Symphonic Band (NSSB), founded in 1992, is a community organization of approximately 75 volunteers who share a love of music and the desire to bring a variety of quality musical programming to the community. We welcome musicians of all abilities and ages, and encourage high school and college students to participate in the community band experience.
Pittsburgh Horn Club
Years Active: 2009 – Present
The club was founded in 2007 by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra horn section as a community outreach endeavor. PSO hornists Bill Caballero, Steve Kostyniak, Bob Lauver, Ron Schneider, Joe Rounds, and Zach Smith did the initial organizing. Currently a committee of community players, led by Ron Schneider, acts as an ad hoc Executive Committee. The club is for all horn players in the greater Pittsburgh region of any age or ability level. We get together in a casual atmosphere to play horn ensemble music, learn from each other, socialize, and put on the occasional performance.
U.S. Army Bands
Years Active: 2001 – 2005
Served with the 392nd Army Band (Ft. Lee, VA) and 62nd Army Band (Ft. Bliss, TX) during a four-year enlistment. Performed in the concert band, marching band, brass quintet, and woodwind quintet. Worked in the Training Office as an assistant manager: maintained weekly schedules, coordinated and led training activities, handled ammunitions account, and managed personnel records. Also worked in the Music Library as head office manager: maintained music collections, administered a library database, distributed and collected music, and handled music orders and requests.
Ringgold Band
Years Active: 1997 – 2001
The historic Ringgold Band is proud to be one of America’s first community bands. Formed in 1852 amid the rolling hills and farms of Berks County, PA, they continue a longstanding tradition of fine musical entertainment in southeastern Pennsylvania. Their diverse concert programs include familiar classics and challenging new works, as well as symphonic overtures, show tunes, solos and a myriad of marches.
